Probably caused by me, I gave everyone half of a baby carrot last night. It wasn't too major, but I did have to give her a bum bath to clean her up. She didn't enjoy it, but didn't bite me. I gave her a dish of oats, and will give her a half serving of pellets tonight. She's also nesting like a mad fool, so I gave her her nest box. Lots of nice fresh hay, too, I'll keep adding until she kindles. She picks out the nicest grass pieces, and is eating all the stems. I hope that's a sign she's going to be a good momma.

Getting excited for babies!

the poopy bum might NOT have been from the carrot but could have been easily a pre-nesting, hormonal change that her body needs to adapt too. half a carrot shouldn't affect a meat size bun all that much (now mind...I don't know what kind of rabbit Star is... A lionhead perhaps???) but still half a baby carrot shouldn't cause that much tummy upset.

Yep, Star's a lionhead. I don't know what all they were given for veg before they came here, but I haven't given them anything other than pellets and hay until last night.

__________ Thu Jan 31, 2013 3:50 pm __________

Well, I gave Star just oats, but she didn't eat anything, she just ate hay, so I only gave her a bit of pellets that night, and slowly worked her back up. She hasn't had a poopy bum since, so I'm pretty sure it was the carrot.

She's in super nesting mode just now, started ripping out her hair last night. She's day 28 tomorrow, but has been nesting since Monday night/Tuesday morning. This is not her first litter, but it is my first litter with her, so I don't know what to expect.
