Yeah we have a bundle of wiggling fur can't wait to count and have a look at them just waiting for the heavy frost to lift and the day to warm up a bit. So relieved she pulled a mountain of fur as last time she pulled nothing and had the babies all around the cage in the lawn tractor. Just the one mishap litter who all eventually died at different stages otherwise all the other litters she has had no losses at all. I'm so excited she has had success again but I'm getting impatient hee hee

 I saw "heavy frost" and thought, huh? Then I remembered... oh, right, southern hemisphere! July = January. :p

Great to hear she's done well again after that other litter!

Yip we have had record cold snap here over the last few days lots of snow further down south and 4 mornings of frosts in a row here in the Waikato its a lot more like the winters I remember as a kid. But gorgeous lovely winter sunny days following frosts so long as the wind stays away.....

Some pics of new bundles

I unfortunately underestimated this winter - and the cold snap - and even up in Blenheim where we had -4 degree nights, two out of one litter of 8 passed :( I had a wee frosty I was intending to keep who wandered out of the nest :/ winter is a bad time for kits

Aww, so sorry you lost kits.

Karen, maybe it's just me, but I can't see your pics.

Sorry for your loss unfortunately same thing happened here two wiggled out of nest box and froze even n though they were still all in hay and the hutch area just didn't have siblings to keep them warm

@missM when I go into the post the images are all there so not sure what I have done wrong

-- Thu Jul 16, 2015 8:51 am --

I lost the occasional kit to winter cold. My nestboxes are not high enough to keep the kits from being pulled out.
Now I just keep the nestboxes inside with me and take them out once a day for feedings. Some does prefer to feed twice a day.
