He is off the ventulator!!!!! They have him off the sedation so he is awake very confused and delirious! They had him on some pretty hard meds like Ketamine.

So so thankful he is going to be ok. It was so very hard and quite the emontional roller coaster!!!

So happy for you, Wyldrose! :)

Now, if he will just use this enforced break from tobacco to quit altogether... maybe he can avoid future problems. My guy found that the "hard meds" they gave him after his operation helped kill the desire for tobacco. Hope it is the same for your husband.

He better be done with smoking!!! There are a lot of people out there that will be kicking his butt if he even tries to look at a smoke! Dr said he might not survive this again if he has another sever attack like this. I am doing my part, giving up a lot of animals, so he needs to do his part!

__________ Tue Apr 30, 2013 3:52 pm __________

I got to talk to Gord on the phone today!! He is pretty weak so they will do a mri to see whats going on there. It was good to hear his voice! I can't wait to see him home!

That is great you got to talk to him, I bet you are starting to feel a little relieved and very happy, that you can see that it will all be ok.

Maybe get him some stuff to fool with in his fingers to help him stay away from cigs.

Continued prayers he is home soon and stays away from the cigs.

Gord was moved from the ICU to the respitory ward so they can work with him to control his ashma, hopefully they can get some allergy tests/shots done too! I hope they send him home soon, he asked me to come visit this weekend, I can't afford it right now. I only work part time. It's so hard being so far! I miss him so much, we have been together for 14 years, this is the longest we have been apart. He has not asked or even said he misses smoking, he keeps asking for a coke though. I'd rather him be addicted to pop!!

Thank you all for letting me vent here and for the support :) I'm glad I found this place!!

So glad he's doing better, that's awesome news! :D How far away is he right now?

Hi Wyldrose I'm so sorry to read about your hubby being sick, and so glad to read he's on the mend. Lets hope he continues to improve.

After my dad quit smoking, he almost always had to have something in his mouth. Certs, Werthers, Halls (yeah, really)... it didn't much matter. I'm sure all the sugar wasn't good, but could it be worse than the smoking? I doubt it. Pile asthma on top of the smoking... :x

What great news! Allergy testing would probably be a good idea, it will let you know what triggers you need to get rid of or control.

Hopefully he is able to come home soon. It is really hard when a spouse is in a hospital far from home, makes everything very difficult.

I'd give him all the pop he wanted. Thinking good thoughts for you and your family.

How wonderful that he is improving!

I am sorry you can't make it out to see him. He must be very bored and lonely. :(

Hopefully he will be home soon. I know you must miss him terribly as well... but the important thing is that he is getting better! :clap2:

He should be back here mid- end of the week!!! His allergen receptors where at 400, normal is 80. So that's what triggered the attack. They are going to get him set up with allergy shots to help prevent it. So excited to see him again!!!

He's home where he belongs :) He called me yesterday and said he was being discharged so in 24 hours I drove to Edmotnon, crashed on his sisters couch and picked him up in the morning, then drove home. He's keeping the couch warm watching the Star Trek movie lol! He's pretty weak still and will need some time to recover.
When he woke up out of the coma in the ICU he thought he totalled the car. The last thing he remembers is driving home from work. He doesn't remember the 2 days he was home hacking his lungs out and then me driving him to the ER 3 weeks ago. I am so glad that this over and ended out better then we expected. He no longer wants to smoke(he even told his sister who smokes she stinks lol!).

Great news, Wyldrose! And also great news that he's not wanting to smoke. It's a tough habit to break, but it can be done. Personal experience there.

I hope he regains his strength soon. :)

Wow, he did have a rough time of it! That's quite a bit of lost memory!

So glad he came out on the other side of this okay! And so glad to hear he does not want to smoke anymore!
