I figured this would be an easier way to update things instead of the chat box.

Friday night my husbands ashma was the worse it's ever been. I dropped him off at the ER and went home. Saturday sat around waiting for him to call to pick him up. Usually they hook him up to a couple machines and he's good to go. But nothing worked so they sent him up the Intesive care unit. Sunday he was still having issues so they decided to put him in a medically induced coma and on a breathing machine. So far he is still hooked up to all the machines and not improving, but also not getting worse. Just the same. They have contacted a specialist in Edmonton(the big city, which is a 4.5 hour drive from here) and waiting now to hear what they say. He may have to be flown there for treatment.

Gord is 38 years old, way too young to be dealing with this right now! We have 4 young kids and I can't do this alone! His boss at the resturant he is the kitchen manager is being awesome. He has invited the kids and I to eat there for free while Gord is in the hospital. My Dad and his Mom are both keeping in contact and are there to help. I am a personal care aid to a young man in a wheel chair so they will be able to figure things out if I have to go. Just trying to keep positve and hope he gets over this soon and comes home where he belongs!

Thank you all for being amazing and letting me vent and for offering your support, the evenings can be pretty lonely here!

Sending you thoughts and prayers for your husband, and big ((((HUGS)))) for you. I truly hope they find something to help him through this, it sounds scary. Hang in there, and be strong. :grouphug:

will be keeping him in my prayers, for quick healing. Praying for your entire family.

I hope he starts improving and they can do the treatments where he is. It makes it hard if you have to travel a distance to see him, especially with 4 kids.

Many good thoughts and prayers for him and your family. I know how stressful it is to have a dh in the hospital and 4 kids and everything else to deal with on your own. It is very hard.

My advice is to let the little things go, concentrate on things that must be done. I spoke with my kids teachers and principals so they would cut some slack on homework when my dh was at walter reed and I was traveling there either everyday or every other day. It is really impossible to do it all, I tried and then came to the realization that half the things really weren't important so I let them go. Family, people are what is important, much of the other stuff is just menial things that don't have much impact if you wait to do them.

Sorry to hear that your husband is still so ill, Wyldrose, but hoping there will be be improvement soon. Please remember to take care of yourself during this difficult time. We're all here for you and feel free to vent whenever you need to. It helps to be able to "talk".

(hugs) and prayers for quick healing for your husband.

I agree with Laura. Let the little things go for now. Right now, life requires you to be so very strong. You can do it, of that I am sure, but it helps to not be scattered.

Know that you have a place here to let out the scary, "bad" thoughts so you can let them go. We have some strong shoulders here- use them whenever you need to.

Yes, it is okay to let some things go-- so what if dinner came out fo a box, or the kids wear the same clothes to school-- take care of YOUR needs, hold your husband's hand, talk to him, and if possible, have the kids there as well.

Hugs, like crazy, to you ...

I am so sorry that you and your husband and children are going through this!

Praying for healing for your husband and strength for you! (((hugs)))

{{{{{Wyldrose}}}}} Praying here for your husband, that he's back to 100% in no time. Praying for strength and peace for you and your children.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers today and the days ahead. [[[HUGS]]] I hope they can find whats causing this so he can come home soon. Hang in there.

I pray he makes a full recovery, Wyldrose... what everybody is saying is true. Drop the non-essentials, and make sure you take care of yourself. That is how you will be able to take care of him when he comes home.

(((HUGS)))

(((Hugs))) Wyldrose!

I can only imagine how worried and scared you are.

I have heard amazing things about the healing power of medically induced comas. Taking away the panic and pain help the body to heal itself. I hope your husband will start to show improvement soon. :clover:

Stay strong for your kids, but feel free to come here and let it all out. We will listen and wont care if your keyboard is wet with tears.

I hope you take up the kind offer to eat your meals at the restaurant. Not only will it save you the time of meal preparation and cleanup, but it will make your husband's boss feel better to be able to help you. Someday it will be your turn to help someone in need, so accept what people offer you now with grace.

You will be in our thoughts and prayers here at Chez MSD. Grab your kids and have a big group hug from me and mine.

Thank all you guys are the best! I have only known you guys a short time and love how kind and supportive you all are!

Gord is doing a bit better today! They are going to try a different Ventulator. He gets to stay here for now so atleast that helps! His boss told me the kids and I can eat at the resturant for free while he is in the hospital so I think we will take that offer for supper again tonight. Less work for me. Not sleeping much, maybe had 4 hours last night. I'm sending the kids to school tomorrow and I am going to work here in a few mins. Hoping he keeps improving! He has a lot to live for!

So glad he's staying close to home. We are all praying for a speedy recovery for him, glad he's alittle better today and I'll pray about the new ventilator. Take it easy today and becareful if your driving and didn't sleep well last night.

Well just got a call from the Hospital. He's being flown to the big city right now :( I have to figure things out and will probley be on the road tomorrow(it's a 4.5 hour drive). I don't think i can drive now. So I will leave tomorrow my friend will take care of the Zoo!

Oh dear! :(

I am sorry they can't take proper care of him locally. Hopefully the other hospital has just what he needs to help him make a speedy recovery. :clover:
