I have this holland lop buck who has a terrific glossy black coat. I wonder why his hair is white at the base of the hair shaft? Still black though right?

__________ Mon Oct 05, 2015 6:06 pm __________

Trying to upload a photo :x

I could be wrong, but I think I would call that a black self steel. Black, or self black, should carry the solid black through the entire length of each and every hair.

an.jpgFor some reason, iphone photos uploaded with your phone are massive and impossible to resize.... :x It's a take a pic, email to the computer, download from email, upload from computer type process....sorry for the delay.

Angus is 6 months old.

That's what I thought about self black but it says black on the pedigree :?

Even as babies, when they have not yet grown their "wool", my Self Black Chinchilla appears lighter (bluer) through the shaft of hair. I don't think you have any reason to assume Steel unless one of the parents are.

Parents are blue and broken orange. Grandparents are black, tort, cream, black tort

Well, since blue is the dilute of black, you may very well have a black rabbit
