Rex rabbit colours.

Hi everyone,

I’m new to this and need some help clarifying what colours these Rex kits are please. Mum is grey chinchilla and dad is chocolate otter.

I’m thinking;

2 x chocolate
3 x agouti or chinchilla??
2 x castor or red??

I would say 2 chocolate, 3 castor, and 2 red.

In the UK, some Rex colours are named differently to the US.
Chocolate (US) = Havana (UK).
Red (US) = Orange (UK).

I didn't think of that. I know breed names were different (like the US Holland Lop is the UK Dwarf Lop), But I didn't know that colors were different as well. Since red is called orange, what is orange called in the UK?

The equivalent of the Holland Lop in the UK is the (UK) Mini Lop. We don't have the American Mini Lop here - they are closer to the German Lop, which we do have. The chart below shows Lop breeds between ARBA and the BRC. The German Lop is the ancestor of the USA Mini Lop, but was modified and given a different breed standard by ARBA. When we imported German Lops to the UK we kept the European breed standard for them and they have remained pure.

Since red is called orange, what is orange called in the UK?

We don't have a Rex Rex, it's just Orange, with a white belly, ear lacing etc. True Red would have a coloured belly due to wideband and high rufous.
