So I butchered an older Californian doe (7-8month probably. Breeder never sent me a pedigree for the pair  The buck ended up having a split and she never produced  ) for missing three times and she gave me about 6/7lbs of meat. Close friends with the meat department, my friend happily chopped up a couple of 7-8 week olds and made me ground rabbit with the older doe. Half of the ground rabbit was traded for 18 fresh eggs and the other was to make some lovely burgers.

We chopped onions, garlic salt, and mashed those in with smoke flavoring. We would of added Wisheshire sauce, but we were out :(

We cooked them in a pan...and they were delicious! :p They looked like turkey burgers! They tasted great. Think I'm going to ask my friend to ground more rabbit for me with the next meat mutt litter.

Tomorrow, I'm thinking either crock pot some of the rabbit pieces,or maybe oven fried rabbit....

They were a little over 7 weeks ( testing the meat toughness/ flavoring.

What section of the store do you usually find the smoke flavoring? Like next to the BBQ supplies or near the sauces? Cant wait for my first batch of bunny burgers!

Probably, when in doubt ask your customer service :) I think you're really going to enjoy them. We didn't try cheese rabbit burgers, so that's probably worth trying too!

Hmm... Cheese bunny burgers. I was talking with my mom today about using her yard (our house lots back up to eachother but she has the nicer yard) to host a farm-to-table kind of thing and calling it a "rabbit roast". She didn't mind it, but mentioned I might have a few people hesitant to eat bunnies who's parents are right next door. I said that I guess those people probably wouldn't be attending a party called a "rabbit roast" anyway. Burgers would be super fun though! A little less rabbit-shaped.

I thought I had taken a picture of the final burger but I must of been super hungry and eaten before I did lol Here's a picture of them getting ready to be cooked :)

Did you all end up putting any egg in the ground up rabbit meat to get it to bind together or was there already something put in there. Normally with hamburgers I'll put some egg in with it so it doesn't fall apart as easily.

That is an awesome idea, I never thought of bunny burgers before!!! That will be great during summer...I can grind some rabbit and have a burger on the grill and not have to worry about my digestive system being angry with me...beef burgers sometimes make me sick. :p Thank you for sharing!!!

Love bunny burgers and I was a die hard beef fan before. Great way to use the older culls though but note that fryers are harder to de-bone and you don't get that much. Just be prepared for the time it might take for the fryer, but it is well worth it! I had mine with blue cheese and bacon of course.

Tried your buger idea with a couple older does.I Added a pound of ground bacon to the batch mighty tasty gave a pound to a coworker who called them bunnie bacon burgers.I'm thinking about letting some of my fryers go longer just so I have more to grind, think I might try a meat loaf next
