Mrs Howell's babies started venturing out of the nest today! We got to see it!

:mbounce:

Then Minnow almost killed one!

I have part of a frame built for a tractor for two does. It has two "pens" that are intended for individual nesting boxes - 18" x 36". I could plop that in there and move their nests to their own side.

Is that big enough? Each doe is about 5 lbs. Minnow has 5, Mrs Howell has 3.

They don't need much space while the babies are small. Better than being killed by a murderous doe.

The 18"x36" idea didn't work. The area I was going to put it in was only 34" wide.

They each have 4'x4'. Catching the does was fairly traumatic on both of them, specifically Minnow - took 20 minutes to wrangle her. She HATES being handled. I'll have to see how her babies grow out, because at this rate she's joining Skipper in the crockpot.

They got lots of treats and bedding and new water dishes. Mrs Howell's babies can now happily jump out of their nests, without worrying about mean ol' Aunt Minnow trying to bite their necks out.
