Pen G is all I have, so that is what she'll get. Thanks, TM. I have very little experience with antibiotics- I try to avoid them for both the animals and ourselves. I only have the Pen G in case of emergencies, and just opened it yesterday.

Is Tylan available at TSC? I can pick some up next time we are in town for future use.

I had a major bot fly problem over the Summer and I had the same thing happen with my rabbits. All I did was squeeze out the pus daily, wash with anti bacterial soap, and squirt alcohol on the wound. All my rabbits that were effected are all good now. The doe that was effect the worst (5 of them and different stage and surprisingly well hidden) got to stay in the house for about 2/3 weeks. I had to cut and drain one where the bot fly ruptured and went inside. She healed well and now looks like nothing happend. She's raising a litter of 4 with no problems.

__________ Fri Oct 26, 2012 11:22 am __________

They are such a pain:( hope your bun heals soon!

Thanks Peach. That makes me feel better. :)

The rabbits didn't react when you used the alcohol?

Yes, they have it at my TSC....make sure to get the Tylan250 and not Tylan500....almost impossible to dose rabbits with the 500....

Surprisingly,I didn't get any bad reactions about the alcohol. They just let me do my work to get them healed without trying to flee or scratch or bite. I won't say it was painless because they cant speak but its better than dying from infection. My junior that had he botflly equivilant to the size of half of his underbelly (scared me to death! Thought his man parts had turned black with infection. He was the rabbit I discovered bot flies with ) healed aswell without white hairs and went to his first show a few weeks ago and got 3rd with his FFA owner. He also stayed inside with the doe. It seemed to help dry up the wound to help the process of healing. A dab of neosporin helped too :)
