So bummed about the chocolates. Also, I've never seen a bunny with a pimple, what is that supposed to look like?

I have no idea on the pimple but thank you for sharing. I am a little bummed about the JW reds but hey, maybe next time.

Unfortunately next time will be a few years since this was their second fail in two years. I'll have that same worry next year with the SF chocolates.

Thats ok. I haven't fully decided if I want to breed reds anyways. But it would be nice to know they can be showed if I do.

Lilac Havana was not a fail. Was not even presented to ARBA. It was there this year for HRBA members to view and a ballot will be sent to all current members to vote on. It will be presented to ARBA if it passes the HRBA members vote. More than likely will be presented to ARBA for the 2014 Convention in Ft. Worth, TX.

Yeah, Im kind of bummed that the COD holder for silver martin in rex dropped it

What does it take to be a COD holder?
I would fantasize about doing the silver martin rex but I don't think I would want to have to go to a show with 17000 rabbits for 3 years. I'd love to give moral support to someone else to do it ;)

You have to be a member for five years, which I do not qualify for. I know full well I would never be able to take off for 3-5 days like that for how many years, to present at Convention. It's still a dream. Perhaps one day i can find a team of people to get a COD with? For the meantime, I still am considering breeding for silver martins right now.

Thanks so much for the update! So thrilled about the passing of REW and Tort LH. So sorry to hear about the Black LH.

Ahhh, the dreaded pimple. It looks like a whitehead near/beside the genitalia. A raised bump filled with a cheesy hard white looking substance. They can be popped and neosporin put on. It's been my experience that they can show up out of nowhere. I've checked rabbits before going to shows and have gotten to show and JOILA a pimple has appeared. It may be related to stress and will DQ a rabbit if noticed by the judge.

In the 11 years I've put rabbits across the table, I can honestly say that I've never seen or even heard of a rabbit being DQ'd for a pimple on its genitalia. I felt it was a real reach on the part of the judges personally.

I think a lot of these DQ's are a reach. What they're supposed to be looking for is matching the proposed standard. The majority of the failures have nothing to do with the standard but instead nitpicky faults that are across the board from breed to breed. I can totally understand it if it's dq'ed because the rabbit doesn't meet the standard of what it is to be _____ fill in the blank new variety/breed. The chin, the black lionhead and the sable mini rex are the only ones on that list that have those kinds of issues.

I've had a rabbit DQ'd twice for a pimple at two different shows, different rabbit and judge each show. Now same rabbit was shown in the other show without being DQ'd. Shown in "A" okay, DQ'd in "B" and vice versa.

That's a bad equation to make, but you're right some do. There's no similarity between the two. The pimples I've seen are not on the genitalia, but near/beside the area.
