We went to our 1st show last weekend in Anderson, MO.
We had a WONDERFUL experience  :D
We took 2 of our English Lops: Hoppin Heavens Springs - our 8mo Solid Blue Tort Buck & Forget-Me-Not Willow - our 3mo Solid Blue Doe.
Springs won BOB & BOV in Show A & BOSG in Show B. Willow won BOV in Show A & Show B with good remarks - very promising doe :D
We can't wait for the next show to see how they do with more Elops to compete against.

SatinsRule, Burkhalter was the judge in Show A, Mark Jacobs did show B.

Yeah, Jacobs did satins in Show B, as well. Wade Burkhalter is a MUCH better judge IHMO.

Yes that is correct on the judges.

Unfortunatly today was a very sad day for us... I woke up this morning & found Willow dead. I have no idea what happened. She had been doing good. She was tired the next 2 days after the show but was still eating & drinking normally. If anything, maybe a little less since she was sleepy. But I expected them to be tired after a big day. We were gone for 15hrs. They both had food & water the whole time at the show. Anyone have any ideas as to what happened? I spoke to her breeder who showed her sister at a different show & she is doing fine.
We are so upset at the loss of Willow. :cry_baby:

I would normally agree with you, but since Jacobs BOB'd my doe, I think he was great this time!! :clap2:

OH NO!! Is this that beautiful blue doe? I am so very sorry to hear that! Sometimes these rabbits are frail and we don't know it.

Trust me. Wade Burkhalter judges circles around Mark Jacobs.

I've won at shows when I shouldn't have, and lost at shows when I should have won. My responses were the same either way. It's not about who I win or lose under. It's about whether or not I believe the judge rated the entries in my breed correctly. Mark Jacobs left alot to be desired.

That was supposed to be funny...not too serious. I enjoy rabbit shows, but I don't take everything any judge says to heart, or get upset about what they decide. I was perfectly happy when she was BOS under Burkhalter. She won her class at nationals and a few other BOBs, so I already knew she was a good little doe. Burkhalter agreed. Different judges, different opinion, different day, no big deal. This hobby is fun, and if it gets to the point the judging is a big issue, it won't be worth it to me any more.

That's where we differ. I have as much fun as anyone on here at shows, but I'm there to compete and win, too. Even still, I have a rather strong sense of fairness. Judges who over-weigh or under-weigh scored factors should never expect me to take his or her position or decisions as a judge seriously in the future.

I am doing my part to promote my breed, and I want to see the absolute best representative of my breed up on the table for BIS because of it. Whether it's my rabbit or someone else's matters not. Losing fair and square I can accept, as it goes with the territory. A judge who is making up the standard as he or she goes along, or picking based upon who is standing across the table from them? That's a different story entirely, and yes I've seen both of them done. I refuse to make a public arse out of myself over it, but when the discussion comes up in private circles, I'm not afraid to speak up, even when it's my rabbit which won and it shouldn't have.

Mad respect there. Takes a very good person to admit when they feel their critter placed above their station.

This is the way it should be-- if one is really serious about breed standards, about the judging protocol, one should NOT permit themselves to become 'kennel blind.' In rabbits, we have a point system-- and that system is VERY specific- not open to a whole lot of interpretation, in my book. If emphasis is on coat-- the judge better be putting the emphasis there, and not on the position of a foot. If the emphasis is on Meat structure, then the coat should not be emphasized.

Sometimes, the judges breed of choice (what the judge breeds) affects how he/she judges all the other breeds-- and that can be an issue.
