We have a few does putting out dark orange urine. Is this normal? We've seen every shade of yellow but this dark orange was surprising. At first we thought it might be stain from the wood on the hutch area but we confirmed that it wasn't.

it's totally a thing not to worry about. It may be they are getting too much protein? I have a couple does who pee really dark too.

:yeahthat: yep, wouldn't worry about it. Had the same with my rabbits and they are still kicking.

I think you have your rabbits in the cold outdoors? That would be just a lighter shade of the red urine we get here-- it is temp related...

Yes, they are outside. It's almost red so I'll chalk it up to temps. Is it an indicator of anything? Chilled? Just temp sensitive?

It seems to be a temp sensitive thing-- squirrels and wild rabbits do the same thing. I am guessing, that as fresh water intake drops, the animals probably concentrate their urine, as a way to conserve body water levels. Our domestic rabbits continue the process of water conservation, simply because their bodies don't know any better.
