I am picking up my new Angora Buns tomorrow (brothers, about 12 wks old). New to Angoras but raised meat rabbits as a kid. This morning I did some shopping. Now I am doubting some of what I bought. As experienced angora raisers what are the essentials so I can see if I forgot something or got something I don't need?

First of all, welcome to the forum!!! :)

Secondly...a good metal comb is essential. :) Plastic combs have too much "give" and can miss tangles. I like my kitty pin brush for Angoras but you do have to be careful not to catch their skin with the brush as they are super-delicate. If you have a blower, that helps, but I have not found it to be essential. :)

Congrats on the brothers!!!! Pictures when they arrive, you must share pictures!!!

Brother number 1 Leo Blue/grey (What would his official color be?)

Oh, my, what handsome boys! :p

:congratulations:

:welcome: to RabbitTalk!

I don't have angoras, but I do have two little Jersey Woolys. :) They aren't prone to matting as adults like angoras though.

I have metal combs, a plastic tipped slicker brush, and a blower for them.

He looks officially to be blue. I hope your Angoras bring you as much joy as mine have.

One thing to note, whether these are pluckers vs shearers, because if they are pluckers, and they blow the coat and your timing is off grooming, they will mat down to the skin in a matter of days. An awful mess.

Actually, it is a black angora ... english that is :D The color of the rabbit is the color of the fur on the nose ... and his face looks to be a black face. My two black EAs look just like that. Also, the fiber I plucked from my black EA doe spun up into a very pretty tweedy-looking grey skein.
