Found an amazing breeder in the same state and decided on a trio of new zealands. They breed for show and meat but I am looking for meat for dog food with the ability to have rabbits for the local 4-h. I am not sure on color as she has blue, black, red and white. I am not interested in white though.

For pricing it seems after shipping, woodyswabbits will be the most affordable on cages. I plan to get (4) 36x30x18. largest size he has. 14 gauge GBW with floor being GAW. Im hoping it will hold up. Decided to hang the cages in a stall i have. havent figured out how to keep the floor clean yet.

-im trying to figure out a watering system and seen a basic one at rabbitnipples but it looks like it may be too cheap and leak.I do plan to use watering cups as i think they will hold up. bottles wont work as i dont have the extra time and they seem to leak.

I havent figured out feeders or nest boxes yet. I have been searching this forum for the last few days.
At first i wanted to do a colony style but I am in the west coast and worried about disease.

Hi, welcome to the forums.
It sounds like you are on the right track of what works for you. Trial and error was my learning curve. Still is.
I have new zealands and Rex here in Montana. I do get a variety of colours which I enjoy.

My 4H knowledge is very limited (dutch), but from what i understand meat rabbit pen needs to be uniform in weight and color. Difficult with any color other then white and maybe solid black. Blue and red have differences in shade of blue/red that makes such a uniform pen impossible.
So unless you have other then meatrabbit pen options for 4H, you have to keep that in mind when picking colors.
I'd sit down with the rulebook on 4H and figure out what you'd need to supply to have a market in that niche.
