These babies were born between 8am, when I checked on all the bunnies and 9am when I went back to feed everyone. Any guesses on colors? I have never had any this pink before. Even my Broken Tort babies had some color. Mom is a Charlie, as is her dad(they look like twins) with only Broken Torts and Torts in their background. Dad is a Black Otter with mostly Black otters, 1 Blue(a great grand sire) and 1 Chestnut(a great great grand sire)

HoppinHalfPints
I have not seen many ND breeder here either. I looked at you website and your bunnies are very nice looking. I'm kinda new to the whole breeding thing. I don't know anyone with ND's to ask questions. I have yet to go to a show as there aren't many in NM. Plus I still don't think I would be able to tell a show-able rabbit. I am reading every book I can find on them. But I know it would be better it go to a show. As soon as I find a show near by I will go.

Thanks

I agree with HoppinHalfPints- light colored charlies. Unless you think both parents could be carrying rew genes which would give you solid whites.
I bred a Bew who had broken colored parents to a solid black rabbit and got a mystery kit like yours- totally pink and wondered if it was a REW or a BEW (which would have been impossible because I knew parents didn't both carry rew and bew genes). It turned out that after the kit was 4 days old I could see that there was a tiny bit of light gray on the back of the ears and around its eyes— so it turned out to be a very light colored broken charlie.

As far as their pedigrees go there is now Rew or Bew but further then that I don't know. I hope they get some color though. The Evans software said less then 3% chance of charlies. :( I'll post more pics in a few days.

You cannot get true Charlies from a Solid x Charlie breeding. You will get all brokens though. You can not get a true charlie, just a very lightly marked rabbit (which is possible) It just depends on what broken genetics are there. I try to boot out lightly marked brokens (looking possibly tort) for this reason because I do not want less than 10% color. They look lightly broken, so it's likely you got brokens with less than 10% color making them possibly unshowable depending on the judge. Usually those and booted rabbits are best to keep out of a program to keep it from cropping up, but not necessary of course ;)

I raise Netherlands as well! My guess is like the others that those babies are going to be fairly lightly marked. You should know more within just a day or two. It takes their color a bit to show up sometimes. :)

Really new baby bunnies are usually very pink or red. Also, if the doe had a short pregnancy, they will be more pink or red. When the doe has a longer pregnancy, then the kits will have a bit of hair on them when they are born instead of being totally hairless. They will show their colors in a day or two when they start growing hair.

Here are Tink's babies, now 6 days old. On babies 1 and 2, you can see the very light rings around their eyes. They also have brown behind their ears. Baby 3 is all white. I can't see any color what so ever. And baby 4? I still have no idea what the color is. I posted pics from all sides of baby 4.

Baby 4 looks like a sallander which is not a recognized colour in any breed but genetically is a self or tan chinchilla with the non-extension gene.

Since the mother is a false charlie broken fawn and genetically a chestnut with non extension and baby 2 looks like he might be a false Charlie broken fawn then as long as chinchilla or silver marten (genetically a tan chinchilla) is in the parents background the sallander colour is possible

Thanks for the info. Here are some pics I took of these same babies today. Baby 1 and 2 have not changed much. Baby 3 was staying solid white till about 2 days ago. Now baby 3 has very light grey smudge on nose, ears and tail. I tried to get better pics of baby 3 but could only get the color to show a little on the group pic. And baby 4 still looks pretty much the same as well. Baby 4 I also noticed this morning that it has very pretty grey-ish- blue eyes. I was really wanting to keep baby 4 cause the color is really cool looking but would there be any colors I could breed it with?

__________ Sun Nov 03, 2013 12:31 pm __________

Ooops forgot to post the 4 day old babies. These ones are from 2 different moms. I had to foster because the Black otter doe, Lolo, was killing her babies but I was able to save 2 of them. My Siamese Sable doe, WW's Cleopatra, had 2 peanuts so this worked out good. The Black baby and Tort(?) baby are from 2 black otters. Other 2 are from My Siamese sable doe and a Black Himalayan buck. One of those babies is just white and the other one I think could be a blue? Maybe? Any thoughts anyone?

Oh my gosh they are so cute :p I love that otter buck! Those do look like blue eyes to me. We just had our first litter of ND's
and got two siamese smoke pearls in it, their eyes pretty much looked like that.

:fainting: :doc: [CUTENESS OVERLOAD] *beep beep beep* {SHUTTING Down}
Seriously. Adorable . Rabbits. :p

Here are better pics that I took this morning. Her eyes were like a blue-ish grey now they are a really light brown. I'm so stumped. LOL I just might keep her as a pet though ;)
