He won two Best in Breed ribbons. It was a hollow victory however since he was the only one there that was a Lilac. Tried to explain it to my son but he was too excited to really comprehend. That and he's seven. To him a win is a win.

Aww, bless his heart!

He was lucky to get ribbons- most of the shows I attend don't buy ribbons for the breeds that have low entry numbers.

I could not view your pic- FB says the content is unavailable.

I put it in my gallery as well. Saddly I'm another techno peasant. My husband and I call his grin the Emperor of Ham look. They had little ribbons for us small breeds and huge ribbons for breeds like the mini rex. And trophies for Best of Show, Best of Show Reserve and Best of Show Opposite. He wanted one of those but I had to explain that we had a good rabbit but those who win Best of Show have EXCELLENT rabbits. It helped when I explained that a lot of his competition was adults who spent years getting their rabbits perfect. He's had Horace for only a few months, etc etc.

The fact that he *was* awarded a ribbon says, at least to me, that the judge found his care of the rabbit worthy of note. The rabbit was well kept, trimmed, bright, happy, brushed, and clean. Not bad for a 7-year-old! :D

Even low-number breeds may receive ribbons, right? "Judge's discretion," and all that?

Well done for this young man and his Horace. :D

I love that he got a ribbon, it just made it hard to explain why his rabbit didn't get a trophy. Horace is a good rabbit, and Jay takes excellent care of him. We have another show coming up in early Dec and there will be other Lilacs there so we'll see how that goes. He told me in the car ride home that that would be better because Horace was lonely being put up on the table all by himself and that next time we should bring Mabel along so he has a "partner in crime". Since Mabel doesn't appear to be giving up popples after all we might as well take her with us. I'll also have gotten a trio from a breeder up near Dallas so those guys will be in our lineup soon as well.
