My little Mouse is nearly 5 weeks old~ the single survivor of his dam last month.
Due to so many failures, everyone got rebred right away and his dam is due again on Monday.
Does he have to leave her?
He is very attached and she is so good with him~ and he is *somehow* :| about half the size of the litter of 2 five days older than him.
I put them together for a playdate today and the other dam (in the cage next door) just about ripped off one of his toes through the wire.
Obviously they won't be housed THERE.
BUt would his mama turn on him when she has the others? Could he stay?

I dunno about all rabbits, but likely she will not tolerate him as she gets nearer to having the new litter. This is of course, said with my experience with cats, a cat who has a new litter will rarely tolerate an older kitten from a previous litter in the same area, so I assume the same can be said with rabbits as well.

My doe was all about her babies until about a week or so after I bred her again, then she was like "nope!" she attacked one so badly before I could get to them that she injured it's eye and according to that kits new owner, it's now blind in that eye.

At 5 weeks old, he (and the other babies) are probably old enough to wean (my previously mentioned litter actually started to wean themselves just shy of 5 weeks old) so you could probably put him and the other two older babies together in their own cage so they have company.

It really depends on the doe.

Ive often raised daughters with their mothers next litter and not had problems but never a buck

The only thing you may want to watch for is if she has a large litter, he might nurse and steal the newborns milk

Ok-- I'll see how the next few days look and at least let his toe heal a bit.
His mama has been surprisingly patient with him.

(I have a bit of a traffic jam until grow outs go to camp next week and a couple rearrangements I tried didn't go well, so I am just trying to hold status quo as long as I can! It is mind boggling at times to figure out where everyone can go and should go!)
