have a litter of mini satin kits 16 days old today. litter of 3, 1 was smaller than other 2 from the begenning but seemed to be doing fine all along. this evening when checking out, the small kit seems to be semi comatose like after you have had way too much for thanksgiving dinner and then went back for 2 more deserts. the other 2 have just eyes open, this one not just yet. The mother feeds them very well. Is this maybe overeating? and should I take him away except for a little while in evenings? or something else? or is this maybe a runt developmental thing that is probably facing a loosing battle? has been right along with the other 2 up until this evening and it will move around a little, just not like the other 2.

Does the kit's rear end look nice and clean? Any signs of diarrhea?

Hopefully someone else will see this, since I haven't run into this problem. Until then, you might want to give Gas-X drops or strips (simethicone) which is used for colicky babies.

The eyes not being open yet concerns me- that is about one week late. I would moisten a cotton ball or pad of paper toweling with warm water or black or chamomile tea, and apply as a compress to the eyes. They may be "glued" shut by mucous. Wipe them gently, and hopefully they will open up. You may have to do this once or twice daily for a couple of days.

thanks for the reply- rear end is clean & clear. eyes are not gunky- the other 2 just opened yesterday & day before. this one is close to opening. He just seemed a bit lethargic, nothing else I could put my finger on.
