That's the problem with leaving it in the hands of the end user. You've got no way of making sure every poster will do that, whereas if the classifieds section was broken down by region, you could just navigate to your local source with a few clicks.

I'm looking to buy some cages, but there's an abundance of posts in this section that I have to navigate through. It's tedious.

Well, that would be a lot of mostly empty subsections, location in the profile or thread title makes more sense.

I agree with Preitler. I'd much rather see all available without looking through subsections. The state in the subject line would be more helpful to me than having to ask the location.
