Thought I would offer another little update, just for fun. Thanks for the diagnostics on these kit colors. I believe what we have is:
  1. two chocolate agouti kits (they look identical except that one is a full ounce bigger than the other.)
  2. one lynx kit
  3. chestnut, classic & cute with some nice orange coming in from the sire's wide band.
I know these are not posed like you'd want for show prep. I'm not good at that yet and neither are they. 🙂

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing this. I've never seen spirulina mentioned before, it will be interesting to see if it works on fiber. Some things, like the intense color of beets or unfermented pokeberry berries (poisonous, do NOT use the seeds), are lovely as quick watercolors, but are not colorfast on fiber.

Looks like spirulina falls into the beets category, I found a research paper at https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/opag-2020-0167/html that tested spirulina, and it doesn't seem to be very washfast, and didn't work well as a cold or hot direct dye. They did get some results as a print paste, but it wasn't really very washfast. Might have some good applications though, the color is magnificent.

Thank you. It will be interesting to see if they can advance the colours with different combinations and/or applications. The colour is beautiful.

I do drink spirulini. Maybe I will try adding it to a painting. I done a few with other natural dyes.
