About two weeks ago, I bred my blue doe, Breezy. Her bits were all dark pink bordering on purple, and she was so eager to be bred she'd assume the position if you so much as touched her hips. She lifted for the buck several times on two different occasions.

I tried to palpate today and felt...nothing. BUT, she was all kinds of tense...I wonder if she was too tense to feel anything.

I put her in with the buck, and she wanted none of that. It's a good sign when they reject breeding, right? Suggests she's baking some little kits in there, yes? I hope?

I swear the suspense is KILLING ME. I palpated Liz, too, she feels plumper and I thought I felt some little tiny grape-y things. But not sure. Gods I suck at palpating. :p Wish these darn does came with a "fast forward" feature, I want Breezy's kits NOW!!! I mean I'm also excited about Liz's kits, but...BREEZY, make kits!!!

So do I continue assuming she's preggo? :)

EDIT: maybe a little less than two weeks, my day planner got left in my car and I'm lazy, LOL.

With a short bodied bunny;

Grasp the bunny by the ears and scruff firmly, and lift the front feet off the ground while leaving the hind feet on the floor of the cage or table. Rub the belly a few times till you feel the muscles relax, and then starting right underneath the rib cage feel upward and 'pinch' the abdomen between your thumb and forefingers. Run your hand down toward the rear. Repeat in small sections. You'll feel fecal pellets (hard marbly things). Babies will feel distinctly like a large marble at 10 days, or a grape at around 14. They tend to be up higher toward the rib cage unless they're loaded. By lifting the front, and leaving the rear down, it seems to send the babies a bit farther back and easier to feel :).

Ah, very cool! I bet I was feeling around too low then. I'll try again. ;) Thanks!!!!!!

__________ Fri May 31, 2013 6:48 pm __________

Well I knew from reading Oceanrose's post that I was feeling for them too low on the body...I was feeling for them closer to the lower belly. But I still couldn't feel anything.

A friend who knows how to palpate really well, she was dropping off girl scout cookies (she took in some foster kids, and got them involved in girl scouting AND 4H, I'm really impressed!) and she was eager to see my new MR...and she told me I wasn't "digging in" enough. So with Oceanrose's advice, and my friend's guidance, I FINALLY PALPATED SUCCESSFULLY!!! :D I'm so pleased I can do this now!!!

AND BEST OF ALL, now I know that both does "took," I can very readily feel kits in there!!! VERY excited!!!!

Awesome Kyle! Congrats on the future kits! I've never been any good at palpating a doe, I will definately have to try again! :)

I was amazed at how high up they are and how much you have to really stick your fingers into their belly. :p So...dig a little deeper and higher? :) It's awesome when you can feel them in there!!!!
