If only it was as simple as : Putting Buck A with Doe B... and instant winners !

We have two extremely nice Pal bucks... Both have given us extremely nice young. I've done various cris-crosses using those bucks and their daughters and been Very pleased with the results.

I have a full sister to one of those bucks ( GC as well ) Lovely, lovely doe ! I've planned to breed her to the other buck since she was born. One missed breeding... ok try again. She had 7 , raised all. And ..... Nothing in the litter has made me say "Wow !!!" :(

Somehow, i really thought that i had stacked the deck with this litter. It "should" have been one of the better ones. They are close to 10 weeks and i am under-impressed. But they will stay here and grow out some more. I'm fortunate that our processor want them on the larger size....Maybe a few More weeks will bring one or two into the limelight...

Guess that is part and parcel of breeding rabbits ! ( we're having fun...Right ??? :p )

Ahhhh, genetics and breeding, it's all a roll of the dice!!!

You never know, maybe if you repeated the breeding you'd have a rainbow of awesome. :) Some litters are just underwhelming. :p

I know that feeling! Maybe they aren't as bad as you think or need a little bit of time. I've pulled a few back out after putting them in the cull cages. I know I have a few I would of regretted culling and turned out nice!

Well, I've culled everything I bred last year except two buns, who never got to show because they were born the wrong time of year and past senior prime by the time shows rolled around.
I am hoping they will give me kits as nice as they are, right now the kits are big butt, no neck meatballs. I hope I get to keep something this year.

We looked thru the litter carefully today. There are two youngsters, a buck and a doe that may be worth growing out further. Checking my records i was surprised to see they are "only" not quite three months. Somehow i thought they were a bit older. :?
I do need to remind myself that this line matures around one year... guess i should not give up hope just yet.

I like both of them, they are very nice looking.
Like Wyldrose said I hope they grow out the way you want them too.
