Wow so there is a small gap between a the wall and floor that is separating 2 does. I breed both on the 8th of july. One bay has a bunch of fur in it and the other had the kits in it. Both does have white hair. One has a little brown and the other grey. Oh yea the other part of it I didnt have nest boxes in either bay. I no that was stupid i didnt think they would take sence it was in the high 90's. Another lesson learned. Who does the kits belong to? If I put them in the wrong on they might starve. Help!

Look carefully at both does, you should be able to tell which one has just given birth. She may have hair pulled from her belly or nipples, she may have milk and her hind end may still be a little less than spotless.

Thanks PB!

__________ Fri Aug 09, 2013 8:37 pm __________

There are 8 healthy kits! and i know which is the mama! Again i feel stupid and lesson learned. I thought it was impossible for the buck to throw good sperm when its in the mid to upper 90's. What are the chances of the doe taking? Was it just a fluke? I am glad i have some more kits! Happy day!!

Well if he mounted several times, then the sterile sperm got flushed out and replaced by the new one...But even then its hard...i had 2 does due tuesday and they were bred also in 95 to 90 degree days 9but at night when it cooled down) and he fell off much more than several times and they both didnt take///So i guess you had a lucky fluke.
Congrats also on the new kits, I hope they do VERY WELL :)

Congrats on the summer kits! Thats fantastic! I'd be keeping and breeding some those buns! :)

Supposedly, newly matured bucks are less likely to suffer heat sterility. Within the breeds, some 'lines' may be better able to handle the heat stress, as well. A buck that keeps his package well descended and against cooler surfaces will be more apt to keep up the production of active swimmers. Do not automatically assume a couple days of 95 degree temps are going to sterilize your bucks-- and do not forget that rabbits who are affected by heat sterility have faster recovery rates than do larger livestock animals...

oh I recently got two kits out of a doe that was bred by a buck out of 100 plus weather...just got them...was grooming them and checking them over for problems...buck got excited so I didn't think much of it...the person I got them from had them outside...no misters or anything..I was surprised they survived it out there to be honest. but 30 days later day they are supposed to come out of quarantine two little squirmers cute as can be :) He only tagged the doe once before I split them up so I guess he is heat resistant :) So you never know if a buck will surprise you :)

Can you put a nest box in both sides. The new mom may want to nest. Whichever mom makes a nest gets the kits?
