It looks like a worm but moves like a snake there was about 10 outside when I was cleaning up old hay

it was fully round and slithered and was fairly fast but ima go wash my hands a few more times in case it was a flat worm eww

it was all black with no marking

I should have stomped it theres no way it was anything good like a snake

makes me feel slightly better about grabbing some weird unknown critter in my lawn :x

definitely could have been but there were multiple of them like 10 If I find another im gonna stomp it

Now, now... no need for stomping the little unknown critters! They could be very beneficial to your yard.

I think you should bravely capture another one and take a better picture of it... if only to satisfy MY curiosity!

Did it have eyes and a mouth that you could see?

I'd love a closer picture and size reference. I'm not sure yet it doesn't look like a planaria but planaria are nifty looking! It doesn't look like the parasitic peanut worm I stumbled upon once either. But all those I found in my creek. If its a good critter you don't wana stomp it!

Whats the head look like?

I haven't seen a garden snake in a while. I don't like reptiles, but I find those kind of cute.

I let it go at after the picture cuz it looked really unhappy about being in that cup

I would have caught another one to take a better picture of but I cant find anymore if I find another in the future I will grab it again

It had no features on its head I could see nor did it stick out a tongue it was just a slightly more rounded tip and it was about 6inches long and about just as thick as a wire coat hanger

O ya it was fairly quick and maneuverable was good at instantly burrowing into the leaves to escape my hand

Sounds like a Caecilian as far as i know though they are not native to the US but i bet they could live in FL if any ever got loose there. Hmmmmmmmm

Dunno what it is, but there ARE tiny snakes. I think they're called threadsnakes? o:

Its a worm, we call them wigglers because they move so much, good for fishing and composting, hay and old leaves, etc---LOL.

ya I got red wiggler worms and I would have agreed but I found some on the ground like 2 feet away from these guys

and this thing didn't move like one
Maybe it was a regular worm and not a wiggler.

Idk how to explain it when I grabbed it wasn't mushy it was like stiff for what it was

I really wish I would have held onto it longer and at least have taken a better pic

I will definitely be on the look out for another one

Wow, that's weird. The horsehair worms we get every time it rains are kind-of stiff, too. The kids like to see how many they can collect in one giant tangle.
