How to sell Holland Lops

Hi all! We bought three Holland lops early this year (2021) from a farm, I'm not sure of their pedigrees. I don't think the seller showed her rabbits. Now we have have two litters of cute, fluffy kits and more on the way that I need to sell. I posted on Craigslist, but it has not been a very successful place to sell anything in my area. We are in northern Nevada, with close proximity to the bay area of California. Anyone know of a successful place to market/sell? I st getting into Holland lops, I'm still learning about coloring and lines and all that. I have no idea if they are show quality.

not show quality. It's honestly... just a hard time of year to sell bunnies. People are spending money on back to school supplies and outfits, not out buying rabbits. Give it till October and sales will pick up again. Hope you're not offended...but they do make good soup! Or dog food people will buy them for their pack. (please euthanize .before selling them for this though).

Best time for me to breed (I live in the Michiana area) is mid September, and sell Christmas bunnies, if I hadn't list my stock I would've bred 3 1/2 months ago because people pester me like flies to cows for rabbits the end of summer, have you heard of hoobly? It's a alternative to craigslist, also what section are you posting in? If you post in pets, your add is most likely to be reported, whereas farm and garden I get replies, I don't do Facebook but I also reach out to connections that do and they give my number to potential buyers! I've been breeding about a year and slowly building a "bunny web" of connections in the tri state area I'm in, someone took rabbits when I had overstock and they went from Washington state to new York! Building connections definitely helps, hope my advice gives assistance!

Thank you! Not offended at all. And it makes sense that back to school is a harder time to sell. We had so many people say they wanted bunnies when we brought our first generation home and now no they don't seem interested.

here, it's also that Covid thing, lots of people got pets lst year and discover that they have no time for that now that things very slowly return to normal.
Also, wanting cute bunnies and getting some after realising that they are a 10+year commitment with quite some work every single day are different things. I don't take any "I want such a cute bunny" serious, I reckon it's just nice to play with that idea, and I wouldn't talk anyone into getting rabbits since they are high maintanence animals.

Since you don't give information about where you are located, what type of rabbits you have, or prices you are looking for, it's not like anyone can help you.

But... rescues might be able to take them.
DO NOT give them away for free on kijiji or craig's list or wherever you are posting them. free animals become bait animals or food.
You can find a small animal auction to take them to.
You could surrender them to your local humane society.
If they are baby animals, figure out the price point at which they will sell (and not become food unless you honestly don't care), and list them for that amount.

I read the newsletter every single day and check out all the posts but I don't post it all but I am not allowed to buy in the classified? That does not make any logical sense but I guess I just won't buy anything and remain as a reader.

I might be wrong but I take it to mean posting a 20 total of any messages anywhere. If you notice a profile will have message posted but don't break down which forums.

You need 20 posts but they may be anywhere on the RabbitTalk site. We want our members to have a sense of who they are doing business with. In the past there have been occasional problems with ARA activity on message boards like this one. In addition, we are talking about buying and selling living creatures who deserve good care during their lifetimes.

Because RT members are from diverse parts of the world, buying and selling rabbits is only a minute part of our purpose. We are here mainly to share our knowledge about raising rabbits and to make that knowledge available to rabbit owners everywhere.

Jump in anywhere, muzzy 216, and get involved. You'll be surprised how quickly those 20 posts will add up.

Just another idea - I have a page for my rabbitry on FB and I know a lot of people who do. It does at least help folks find you and as far as I know, they aren't penalizing private messages yet.

Thanks for all the resources. I think I am going to work on a webpage to be able to post a link to from a Facebook page. Then I can at least post pictures of the rabbits I have available without having to post prices. I'll just have to be extra careful to keep questions to the private messenger.

Where I live its very hard to sell rabbits or even give them away for free because not many people want them, or have ever considered rabbits as pets. Most people go straight for cats and dogs. I know its the same situation stateside. Rabbits are the most abandoned pets, there are so many out there that end up in rescues.

There are some breeds of desirable rabbits that sell reasonably well in a specialized market. Holland Lops are pretty common and they are not likely to sell easily. I'd recommend trying other pet selling sites or sites that are more specific on selling pets. Get them on as many selling sites as you can with plenty good photos of them.

A lot of rescues where I am are reluctant to take in anymore rabbits because rescues are literally bursting at the seams with rabbits.
