We have a lone baby HLop, 6 days old.
I will post a pic later :)
When you look at its mouth, you can see teeth without opening the mouth.
*maybe* the split between the upper lip is a little too deep?
And when I look, the top teeth don't yet meet the bottom, but appear to be behind.

I may be way jumping the gun!
It is our first dwarf baby-- I just haven't seen the teeth so obviously with the other babies.

At what point should the mouth look proper as in indication of the adult mouth?

You should look for uneven wear on the bottom and top incisors and the molars/cheek teeth can also become offset and cut in the the cheek flesh or roof of the mouth - post256660.html?hilit=%20Hind#p256660

Sometimes youngsters go through growth spurts and their teeth can be temporarily miss aligned but right themselves again -I still cull these kits

Malocclusion is not ALWAYS a birth defect and trauma and poor nutrition can also cause it

- smacking their chin when jumping down can bruise the growth plates in the jaw to retard growth and cause an underbite

- mature rabbits can snap a tooth (often from gnawing metal bars :( ) and the opposing tooth wont get worn down and grow too long

- low calicuim high phosphorus or high calcium and low phosphorus diets can do also effect growth plates and case under or over bites

- most rabbits are "lefties" or "righties" even when they chew and if there's not enough roughage in their diet a small unevenness in tooth wear can become a BIG difference rather quickly
