I'm pretty sure that it is $5-$10 with an average being $7 an ounce. I got these numbers from looking at other people selling on etsy and the like.

Agreed. The prices I've seen for 1 ounce of raw Angora fiber (i.e., not dehaired or anything) are from $4 to $9, shipping added on top of the ounce price. I've seen these prices on Etsy plus individual blog sites. Websites are erratic as to whether they use the word "prime" or not. I've noticed no relationship between the use of the word "prime" and the price quoted.

I purchased 1 ounce pure white Angora roving at a yarn shop in the S.F. Bay Area on Monday, August 12, for $19.00. It turned out to be even better: it was combed top! And this was a retail price! My guess is that the Angora-owning person sold the combed top to the shop owner for approx. $12/ounce.

Since I have no rabbit(s) yet, I felt I got a steal, even at $19.00. Roving alone at $19 would've been nice, but combed top! at $19!!! Wow.

HTH.

That's about right and even at those prices it's too precious for me to sell. Prime -think 4+ inches with no short cuts. You don't need to dehair. Don't mix you French and German. Bag the hair separately, and sell as either or.

thanks sky....I was going to breed French with the german .. the fur should be ok .

The resulting fur with be different than just adding German wool with French wool, more that you may find a spinner that just wants german over french. Some people are really sold on one breeds wool over another. I don't like English, and I have an English cross, and the fiber is stickier than the french, less guard hairs, so I would separate it by breed, and mark the crosses as such.

My biggest blocker is that I want to just hoard it all to spin, its so fluffy and soft!!! If I could stop fussing over it and finally sell it, I'd ask $8 to $10 dollars and ounce depending on color, quality, etc, but one thing I'm pretty darn proud about is my angora stock, so I tend to be a little uppity about my babies and their products.
