Just heard from the show Sec this morning and they need 2 more Jr NZ boys for the classes in ALL 3 shows darn it  I would have thought there would be enough from this area, but evidently there aren't.

Anyone want to loan me 2 Jr Boys

Cindi,

do you have two more Jr bucks of your own? You can enter them as owned by your spouse or children to make up the numbers for exhibitors. That is what I did in my last show because in the first one I attended, there was only one other exhibitor. The judges can withhold placement of animals if none merit it, so you wont get an undeserved leg just because there are enough animals entered in the class.

You might not have the #'s in the class, but what about the breed? There's always BOB and BOSB to get a leg.

The same number requirements exist for BOV/BOSV, BOB/BOS, all the way up the line to BIS and Best Reserve.

I realize that. What I was referring to is that there are usually more numbers involved in variety / breed as opposed to just the class, which in turn makes the potential of earning a leg greater. There may not be but 3 in the class, but there may be 10 in the variety and 20 in the breed. Now if there are only two breeders amongst all those classes/varieties/breeds, yep there's a problem. Hope I got that right.

Yeah, or if you just happen to be the only person to bring a specific breed to a showroom. Been there and done that several times already.

I wish MSD I really Wish but I culled rather harshly, The only other Jr NZ is his brother which a friend has and he is SHEDDING horribly right now. As far as the Flemish go, the only other Indermediate buck just broke a toenail LOL. Soooooo IM up a creek without a paddle I suppose.

On the UP Side if I can generate enough interest maybe next spring there will be more Rabbits for the classes

__________ Thu Sep 06, 2012 12:12 pm __________

No kids either and no significant other lol

Oh well, you will still get some good opinions on your rabbits, and I am sure you will have a good time. :)

You'll have to fix that, if only so you can get legs on your rabbits!

Same boat. Last two shows there were three Rexes, two owned by me. For the second show I just went home. I'm going to take my Rexes to the next few shows, and if I am the only one there, I'm going to put the hollands any minis on the table and try my hand there.

I'm definitely not questioning your decisions, but might it be good for a newer person such as myself to keep the rabbits on the table even if there is no chance of a leg, to get a judge's opinion on them? I imagine I would never have a chance of winning anything anyway, so I guess there isn't much pressure for me

Yes. It is only about $3 to enter a rabbit, so I consider it money well spent.

Thats basically what I did as I had the only flemish in the show. I went with 3 came home with 1 Justice. Gave my lil buck to a 4Hr for her birthday. Not a bad thing. Did find out that my NZ Buck had an Excellent coat very good back end but the front was off so ..... Hey I learned from that and it was a good experience

5 rabbits, 3 exhibitors. and it proves deceptively hard to find shows where satins meet those requirements around here...
