Would like to have some critters around and after looking into chickens and quail I decided to give rabbits a shot. They seem to be much less temperature
sensitive among other things. I have an itch to do something even though it's winter and bunnies seem best for starting in the cold.
Haven't got any yet but, I did get this ' starter rabbit set ' on FB for $120. ( pics). I'm in the process of replacing the hardware cloth in the floor of the
hutch with 1 x 1/2 cage wire . The roof came off when I moved it so, I'm planning on replacing that with corrugated metal which is much lighter anyway.
I've removed the little shelter inside to make room for nesting boxes.
The hutch is roughly 60 " x 40" so I'm thinking of dividing it in two and using the cage for a buck.
I will probably go with whatever breeds are available in the KC area. Seem to be quite a few NZ but, those silver fox are kind of purty :)
I am pondering hutch vs tractor for grow outs.

I am looking forward to giving myself conjunctivitis perusing the forums.

I've been watching a lot of youtube videos :) Teal Stone Homestead just posted a nice video on making a nesting box that I may try.
( Love the ' taco, burrito ' comment btw ;-)
Oh, you watch Teal Stone Homestead as well? Same here!

I guess she's the rabbit community's version of an influencer, eh? XD

Hi, so make sure to sanitize that stuff well or they can get sick. I love silver foxes they are so cute and grow fast! Are you interested in a show or meat or both? when you buy a rabbit look for what you want, don't just settle on something that you don't like, or that you're not sure about. Teal Stone Rabbitry is amazing tho she stopped doing Silver Foxes, you should check out her website she has really cute stuff!!

Leaning towards a few bunnies in the freezer to start and sell a few to help cover feed costs. Show doesn't really have much interest for me now.
From what I've read Silver Fox seem to have fewer behavioral issues then NZ so may be better for a novice.
