I don't know what is happening but my lion lop kits are dying one by one :( She gave birth to 7 kits on July 8th, I am now down to 4. The first one that died I was expecting it was small and didn't seem to be nursing right, it died 4 days ago. I thought no big deal it must have been since she had such a big litter, all the other kits had nice full stomachs. Then 2 days ago, another dead kit  don't know why it looked like it hadn't ate anything, even though the day before it had a nice round stomach. Again the remaining 5 kits had nice full stomachs, active popping when I touch them. Now this morning, another dead kit! This time though of the 4 left only 3 look like they have full stomach, the 4th kit looks a little wrinkly, I have a feeling it will be dead by tomorrow.

Any thoughts on what could be happening? I don't want to loose them all but I don't know why they are dying, or what I can do. Oh all the kits look normal, they don't look like peanuts.

Mom is a 2 pound lionhead and dad is a 3 pound Holland lop, first litter for both of them.

It is possible that momma's milk supply isn't plentiful and that some kits are just not getting enough. That said, it sounds like it might be something else... and I haven't a clue what it might be. Sorry not to be any help. :(

Do the moms teats feel normal?
Perhaps she has stopped producing or has mastitis. This milk can kill kits.

What colour are the kits?
Charlies (rabbits with two broken white genes) and Blue Eyed Whites are prone to malformed digestive systems and if these are your colours it may be the cause.

teats feel normal, not enough milk is a possibility I guess, but the kits look like they swallowed a golf ball every morning, and she now has less to feed so...?

No signs of diarrhea, nest box is clean, not wet.

The kits are solid tort, both parents are torts, so no BEW or charlies.

Mom eats pellets, alfalfa cubes, and occasional dandelion greens from the yard.

Mom is healthy, and of a good weight, but is it possible that there is some sort of internal parasite that is going on, even with no symptoms? Or just maybe the 2 are just not genetically compatible?

I don't know I am just really stumped???
