Hello from California!

Hi everyone! My name's Katie and I am just getting into raising, showing, and hopefully eventually breeding rabbits. Right now I'm mainly interested in dwarf and small breeds. I'm probably not going to get into meat rabbits until I have more space, but I have found that too many social media groups are just too unfriendly towards people interested in showing and breeding so that's what brings me here. I'm starting out with 2 dwarf hotot does, Freyja and Dozie. Dozie's going to be my stepdaughter's 4H project but she's only in kindergarten so I'm assuming I'll end up as her primary owner.

They're in my room at the moment in a temporary cage as their comfort level with me improves:

I love Dwarf Hotots, maybe its because they're like Netherland Dwarfs with pretty eyeliner

Anyway, I have to agree within you on the other places being too aggressive about showing/breeding/eating rabbits

Welcome! I came for the same reason- there’s not a lot of rabbit breeder friendly social media pages (other than Facebook private groups.) Good luck with your Dawrf Hotots!

Welcome! I am raising meat rabbits in California (Californians) and I show them. Do you know about ARBA.net? They have listings of local clubs too, but I can't remember if you have to join ARBA for that. Good luck with your Dwarf Hotots. I think they are beautiful.

They're 5 months, born 5/2/22.

Pretty rabbits. Lucky rabbits. I started meat rabbits outside in April. I don't discuss it with people much. Forget social media, they've gone crazy and I don't participate at all. You won't find that here. Any questions you have will be answered. We dig our rabbits, seems like mostly women and most all use them for meat.

If you're interested there is a large Facebook group for rabbits that focuses on meat rabbits, but they talk about all aspects of rabbits. There's lots of informative posts there, and people aren't afraid to post processing and necropsy pics

Without breeders you would even have your rabbit(s)

I guess people think we just breed rabbits for fun. My client today seemed upset about my dispatching. So why did they ask? I told her hey people feed their families. Alot of people show. I asked her what are you gonn'a do when the food supply chain stops? No answer hahaha

Welcome Katie! I’ve never had Hotots but they are beautiful. Social media is not my thing to begin with but the rabbit groups take the cake. Enjoy the forum, these folks are the best!
