here, the first cut is usually the best-- but the real serious growers PLAN it that way-- with weather being fickle, one may not get a chance at a second cut-- so every cut counts like it was the ONLY cut!;

It is possible to go entirely pelletless, but you need a good supply of alfalfa hay, some whole grain (wheat, oats, barley are all good) and lots of greens. The rabbits will also need a trace mineral salt block if they don't get pellets.
