My Oldest daughter had a woolie who was never doing great. Pinched hips like crazy and just a sub par animal. I found out that it was having trouble breathing. It has been going on a while. My daughter is 17 so I did not keep up with her rabbit. I right away put it in quarantine and talked to her about it. A week after quarantine it started up with snot nose white and wheezing. I let her say goodbye today and dispatched it. I did a autopsy and I am confused by my findings. I did not take any pictures as she was having a hard enough time with me doing the autopsy. It's heart was shriveled up like a prune. The lungs were a bright purple and the liver was very dark. Not at all like a normal rabbit. Not sure what to think on this one. I go away for vacation tomarrow for a week so did the deed today. Not fun.

So sorry, Demamma. :(

It sounds like there was a lot of hemorrhaging of the lungs, which is why they were so dark. Given that the lungs were so severely compromised, the oxygen level in the blood was probably very low. I am only guessing, but the heart may have become atrophied due to the lack of oxygen.

I was worried about Pasteurella after all the posts on here but I am starting to think he was a genetically inferior animal prone to problems. I think if any of my animals are anything I would be embarrassed to own I will not sell them. I would hate for someone to get a genetic mishap from me. I looked up all the pictures I could find on Pasteurella autopsy and he did not resemble those at all. Well I am off with the kids for a week in tahoe at a condo. For Christmas my mom got us a week. All my kids will be there. This will probably be the last time they will all be together for vacation. After this year I will have two out of the home. They grow so fast
