I made it tonight and I liked it. I had apple and sage rabbit with roasted potatoes and carrots. The kids ate it too and once they got over they where eatting rabbit they liked it. Looks like we will be having rabbit more offten.

Congratulations, Jasharia! :) We had our first rabbit this past summer, and we like it, too! The kids are always excited when we have rabbit. :)

I have some rabbit in the freezer and a recipe I want to try out. As soon as we've cleared out the Christmas/New Year's leftovers, I'm going to pull it out and put it in the crock pot.

my kids love rabbit, and so do I. We have had a couple roasters and about half a dozen fryers since we began this endeavor. One side effect however is somewhat humorous... I shot two deer last week, and when I got back from the hunt, she asked me if I had gotten any meat. I said yes, I had shot a deer... she then asked "What's his name?" "Let's eat him!" :)

Am I the only one that doesn't particularly care for the taste and texture of rabbit? Maybe I should try some different recipes.

The one I did was for pork chop but still came out real good. I like it better than chicken there was no dark meat on it at all and I like that. some part where chewy but the flaver was good. I need to get a crock pot and cook some that way. I have a pair of cali/astek crosses they are big I am going to breed them in a few mo and try my own butchering. This one I got from the meat market.

Nope, you're not the only one, Paula. Personally, I love rabbit meat but my brother and my late aunt both found it bland and disappointing. You might like it better in casseroles or other one-dish meals where the ingredients and flavours mingle.

I have met people who actually don't like chicken :? , which I completely can't comprehend. So I'm sure you and Maggie's relatives are not alone.

It is possible that you might like it if you debone it, chop it up, and use it like Maggie mentioned. :) Rabbit fajitas! :chef:

Ohh I so wish we were having rabbit for dinner. Instead were having chicken soup.:stirpot:
I have had rabbit once and hopefully I will have some to butcher this year.

I hate hate hate chicken

And rabbit meat is by far one of my most favourite meats.

LOL! I love all meat, but the only rabbit I have eaten recently, I cooked wrong, High heat and all that.

Sooo....looking forward to when I have a spare kit or two to try. I keep selling them like this it's not likely to happen, though. :(

I like it more highly seasoned and/or with gravy/or fried. Also bacon makes everything better! Kinda kills the healthy aspects, but stewed gets kinda old.

:mbounce: Those make practically everything better tasting :D I'm sure it effects how healthy it is but it should still be better than any other meat prepared that way.
