Hello!

I started raising silver fox rabbits in the early Summer of 2022. So much to learn but enjoying the journey each day. They are such sweet and loving creatures! Hopefully this Spring I will have a bunch of bunnies from my two does. They are almost 8 months old and a little over 8 pounds each. My bucks are ready...oh boy are they but will have to wait just a little longer for the does to mature more. They are all safely housed in a well ventilated barn next to my garden and greenhouse. My "poop machines" are really helping my garden grow! I'm planting fodder trees this Spring (hybrid willow and white mulberry) for the rabbits. I signed up to this forum for support and information. There are no breeders or people raising meat rabbits in my area. Looking forward to getting to know some of you! PS. I'm also enrolled in a master gardener course through the University of Idaho.

You can also make tea from the mulberry leaves and add young mulberry leaves to people salads. We have mulberry for the bunnies as well as for the peoples here.

Good looking buck, although we have very few silver fox around here so I'm not terribly familiar with the nuances of the breed. He does seem happy and alert.

Welcome from North Idaho! Colleen is on here from Council, ID. I don't know how far that is from you.
It is a great group of helpful people. Enjoy!

Blessings, Buknee (Sharon) @ Bella Rose Rabbitry

I think Council is a little over 2 hours south of me. I'm looking to add another silver fox doe to my rabbitry if you know of any.

You must be fairly close to me then. I am in Benewah County.
Gwindolyn in Moyie Springs and Lindsey Hunsucker in Blanchard raises SF.
I can check with some contacts if you would like. Just give me an idea of location you can travel to.
Do you only raise SF or do you have other breeds?

Welcome to a wonderful forum with the nicest people around! I'm Coleen from Council, and have NZ's and one Silver Fox buck. I'm looking at fodder trees/shrubs too as well as utilizing my small east pasture for their hay. I love my rabbits!
Hi Coleen and thank you for the kind welcome message. I have 3 SF bucks and 2 SF does. I was supposed to have a trio (1 buck and 2 does) but it didn't work out that way (breeder sexing mistake...ugh...and now we are all attached to the boys). At any rate, looking to get another SF doe...hopefully of breeding age.

I started growing hybrid willow last summer. My rabbits LOVE willow so I will plant more on the property. They also love the cuttings from my apple trees, pear tress and raspberry leaves/canes. Nice to meet you!

I'm in Idaho County not too far from Grangeville. Silver Fox is my only breed. I really like their sweet dispositions. I'm new at this (almost a year) so don't have experience with any other breeds. I'd be willing to travel 3-5 hours for the right SF doe.

You are not too far away. I have a Rex bunny in Grangeville. Let me check with some of my contacts. I will try to get you some options in your area.

Howdy! Hope you enjoy RT! North Central Idaho is a beautiful place- I’ve sold many bunnies into that area and elsewhere in Idaho. I hadn’t heard of anyone raising Silver Foxes there, though. Did you travel a ways for your original stock?

I know lots of people raising rabbits for themselves don’t really advertise it, since they aren’t looking to sell any. It’s amazing how much more common it’s becoming!

I got the bucks from two different people in North Idaho and the does from the southern part of the state. :)
