My kids did their 1st open show tonight and did a great job. They took B.O.S with their junior Siamese Sable doe (who also got B.O.V.), B.O.B. with their junior Smoke Pearl buck (who also got B.O.V.), B.O.V with their REW senior doe, and a B.O.V. with their senior Black doe. (All lionheads) Don't think they did to bad for a 1st time showing or for that matter, the REW senior had a litter 3 months ago and the Black senior had a litter 8 weeks ago. :D

Thank you. Now I think my oldest daughter has been bitten by the show bug. She wants to show again as soon as possible. Too bad I think it might not be until September when we have a chance to get to a show though.

great job!!! We was going to go to that show, but everyone was tired and cranky from being at the fair early all the time. My son said he would rather hang out with his friends. We will definitely be going to the September show! I guess we will see you in a about an hour

Way to go :) I'll take my niece to the Medina show, hopefully with the Jersey Woolies. I hope she likes it.

The show today (showmanship) they did not enjoy at all. There was no Lionhead group so they got put into a mix breed category at the very end of the show. Judge only liked REW and ended up picking another one as BOB, no other winners chosen, not able to compete for any of the trophies either. The kids do not want to deal with something like that happening again so we will probably only stick to bigger shows from now on. I figured it would not hurt for them to get a little more experience in today but after being there for 8 hours I think I might have made the wrong choice. :x

__________ Wed Jul 24, 2013 5:36 pm __________

I bet she will enjoy herself with the Jersey Wooly. They are an adorable breed.

my kids didn't like it either, it was supposed to be run like an open show but all they did was award first place. They didn't really tell the kids what was going on. My 9 y/o was really confused, she didn't know what she was doing and no one really helped her.

Same here Jessica. We already have a couple of other shows we plan on going to in the next 2 months so the kids can enjoy showing a little more. One of their cousins had someone threatening their rabbit and let it loose in the barn so they pulled their rabbit out of the fair. Supposedly, according to the rabbit supervisor, it must have gotten out itself. Only problem with that is we had given them some zip ties that they had added to the cage and when we got there the next morning the rabbit was in another cage with no food or water. Something fishy with that I do believe. :x

last year our Flemish giant got out and was hoping around the barn, his cage was zip tied shut. He was big and strong enough that he could push the top of the cage up enough to squeeze out! Hopefully that is all that happened with yours, but you do have to watch kids at the fair. I caught some kids harassing the chickens.

The only show we plan on going to is the September show in Tiffin, hopefully Autumns Holland will be done molting by then

Our junior lionheads were pushing their heads through the bars on the coops. They put extra wire on 1 of them but not all of them. I will be so angry if ours get hurt because of this happening. I even mentioned it again that ours were still able to get their heads through and was told to watch and see if they could fit their bodies through.
Their rabbit is a mini lop so not strong enough for it being in the middle of the cage system to lift the top to get out I wouldn't think.
