Without photos, it's hard to tell for sure, but tortoiseshell would meet that description. See the colors by scrolling down https://www.gbfarm.org/rabbit/holland-colors-shaded.shtml Regular tortoiseshell does look like a dark blue, the blue tortoiseshell is a paler blue.
Tortoiseshell is a non-agouti self color. The dark color (black, blue, chocolate, lilac) is produced on the points (ears, face, legs, belly), the non-extension 'ee' recessive causes the yellowish tones on the main body.
