If time and not money is an issue then have you contacted the
the Nubian dairy two blocks away from my mom's house
about getting milk?

Im not sure about your local laws but selling raw milk is illegal here, however, there are ways around it such as "boarding" your privately owned nanny goat and paying the farmer for stud fees, general upkeep like daily milking  etc...

They refuse to get into raw milk, it's illegal here too, so they only sell pasteurized. I could get a raw Jersey share if I'm willing to drive almost two hours one way and pay fourth plus dollars a month for a gallon a week, but I'm not. I think we'll wait and see if our old share opens up again after the cow calves, but I know they guy doing it was wanting to get out of it, so I doubt it will. We'll have to deal with the store bought stuff until we can get our own, but it's okay. When things look better we'll find a way to make it happen. That's the way it usually goes around here. :)

I can just start taking herbs (nettles, which is also a fiber/dye plant, woot!) for my allergies. I never did try it before, but I'm confident they'll work, and it's supposed to help build a resistance towards bee stings too, which I could use with the one hive I care for being grumpy like they are. It's a win all the way around!

Dang :(

Do you find your raw honey helps with your allergies?

My dad use to need shots each spring since his allergies were so bad but then a neighbour got a hive and started selling honey and the local unpasturized stuff did the trick and now he's got his own beehives :D

It's just starting into our second season, so hopefully If the weather stays nice and there no drought and fires this year we should get our first harvest this fall. I'm getting pretty excited!
