No... no broken in these lines. But I now see the very faintest trace of color (maybe) on the top of its tail... or it's a little dusty. Nothing on the nose and ears, but we'll see. I wonder if these Pearls are lighter if they are cchd c instead of cchd cchd.... That might explain why I've gotten just a couple like this.

__________ Tue Mar 17, 2015 6:17 pm __________

Here are some current pictures... 11 days old.

A Fawn, Yes?

Indeed he is Steel and I'm sooooo happy to be done with THAT mystery! Lucky for me he was an Agouti Steel, so I could discover it in this litter! I am keeping a few non-extension kits from his litters.

Oh, your ermines are agouti too, aren't they?

Do you remember the chocolate steel and self chocolate looking kit I showed you before?

That self chocolate has test bred as an A_ EsE steel. :? I doubt everyone will believe me, but we have been line-breeding and sporadically test breeding with non-extension rabbits. No rabbit from that very close line has ever thrown non-extension or harlequin.
The doe who produced that pair was a full color opal A_ E_ the buck was super steel aa EsEs(probably not agouti)

Anyway...I've been suspicious that my lines were throwing A_ EsE masked agouti steels this whole time...turns out I was right.

I believe it! I'm glad you figured that out. I really wouldn't have believed my Self Chocolate buck was A----Ese unless I saw such evidence. I know I have some kits that are likely A----EsE with such subtle off color that I know they'd pass as Solid. Some of those from the Chocolate Steel batch that Elderberry had still have me wondering. If I didn't know my freezer was already going be full of rabbit, I might hold a few back to test breed....

__________ Wed Mar 18, 2015 10:38 am __________

Self, chin and non-extension is a sallander and not all white.

Chinchilla based frosties are much whiter than shaded based frosties. The ears and top of the tail will be the first to show frosting

Looks like your "self chocolate" is a steel chocolate agouti and all the black kits are either black agouti steel or self black who carry steel but you'll never know unless you test breed :(

I'm just re-reading this post and it struck me that you said sallander are not all white. So, A---cchd---ee are Frosties and are whiter? If so, that is even more helpful to know. That would explain the one that popped up in the past, as he could have been Agouti (Cream dam). I had just assumed he was aa at the time. So, this little very white rabbit is likely a Frosty (what is that in Angora?)
