So i have probably read everything there is to read about using a tattoo pen to tattoo rabbits, but am still a bit nervous about the whole process and since the pen came in the mail yesterday tonights the night I need to try it. I have two charlies that are 10 weeks old I will be trying it on later tonight ( work 3rd and its my weekend so this is my daytime) Now people are saying to practice on a banana but I don't have one... or a way to go get one. So any other tips and pointers especially for the EZ Tat as that is the one I bought. I also bought the bunny wrap to hold the bunny in.

Find the large vein in ear and mark it with a sharpie. Make your tattoo well above this, as it seems to be more sensitive near the vein. Wear a glove on the hand that is holding the ear or you could wind up with an inadvertent "tattoo"....ask me how I know this....

I've never tried the bunny wrap, but my bunnies have plenty of ear to deal with.

I've always heard to stay away from the vein in the middle of the ear, but also that you shouldn't go too high towards the top of the ear, as that is where all the nerves are.

It has been my experience with my new rabbit-tat, that I am obviously not pushing the tip of the tattooer close enough to the rabbit ear, as I have tried it twice now, and they keep scabbing over, then falling off. I'm obviously not getting the ink deep enough into the skin.

I saw someone tattooing using a rolled up rag with the ear folded over it, inside out style. Takes away my #1 fear of tattooing myself. I will try that next time.

Since I'm a visual type person, I also googled how to do it and watched what they did. It was helpful, but I think only practice makes perfect in this case.

I have also found it helpful to take a xfine tip Sharpie and write what you want to tattoo in the ear as a pattern to follow. My writings not the best  .
