I just noticed today that our doe (the one that just had 12!) had a goopy eye. I'm hoping she just got some shavings or something in her eye. She is not going to tolerate treatment or cleaning. I tried to take some pics. Don't know if you can really see or not. I haven't heard any sneezing. No other symptoms.

I have a couple more pictures to add, but they are being routed through cyberspace :S

Is it just in the one eye? I'd watch it and make sure it clears up by morning - if it is shavings, it should have worked its way out by then.

Is that rabbit missing an ear?

Lol had to ask. It looked like it could go either way.

I think it's probably just that she has a minor irritation if it's just the one, then. It'd be best if you could get her wrapped in a towel and hold her while someone flushes her eye with a saline solution(I use contact lens solution).

I don't see that happening. She is hard to handle normally, but only 48 hours after kindling is going to be impossible. She is back to boxing me when I put her hay in. That usually only lasts the first couple of days and then she realizes she needs to knock it off. I really hope it clears up.

__________ Fri Dec 28, 2012 6:27 pm __________

Better picture after she cleaned it up herself.

Looks like what mine have. Snickers had 1 eye and then 2 eyes about 2 months ago. I doctored them and they got well. Then, it came back recently first 1 and then 2 eyes. Now he decided he does not want me to work on his eyes. Then, Cream got it, first 1 and then 2 eyes. He really did not want me messing with his eyes. One eye has healed without doing anything and the other is almost healed and really I think is healed. Two of the 5 kits have slightly runny eyes and after moving them now a third started. Nobody stops eating and no sneezing, just these eyes. I have thought the hay, smoke from our woodstove, allergies, they are too cold, stress. I do not understand it. Zoup, Lulu and Sunshine and the 2 fawn kits have shown no sign of it. The kits being in with Lulu and 6 in one bed could have caused the whole thing. I cleaned that hay out daily and it could have just been too much urine, but I did not smell a strong smell. I am thinking of taking all the hay out of the first hutch now that the younger ones are moved. I may do the dish pan thing or a box for them to sit on, under or whatever. They have litter boxes in the back and I have noticed that like to sit in those. They also have plastic over the doors of the hutch and I am thinking of taking that half off and cover if the wind blows.
