I have a MR doe that today marks the 28th day but still no kits. I am just waiting to see when and if she will have any. I'm hoping she does since I did let the buck cover her 3 times so I guess she should be carrying some. I just want her to already have them. How long does a first time doe carry for? And should I be prepared for anything?

There is never a sure thing in rabbit breeding, but as a rule, the gestation period is 31 days. It has been my experience that maiden does are generally on the long side of that, kindling the night of the 31st or 32nd day.

It has happened that some does deliver on day 28, and some have even reported over 40, but again, in my experience, if the doe hasn't delivered by day 35, she isn't going to.

It's also been my experience that the number of breedings doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the number of babies you could expect.
I've had does bred once deliver a dozen, and does bred multiple times only deliver 2 or 3.

As long as she has a properly sized nestbox with proper bedding material, there isn't much you can do besides sit and wait.

I'm hoping so too. I shall see though that's if she does manage to have a litter.

__________ Fri Feb 21, 2014 10:56 am __________

Still nothing. She hasn't even made a nest yet but that could be because I already packed her box with straw so she might feel as if she doesn't need to make a nest. She still seem to be eatting and acting normal but she is being very very sweet. Always wanting my attention and wanting to be pet. I'm really hoping tomorrow is the day she has them thats if she is pregnant which I'm really hoping she is.

Well today marks day 32 with still no kits so I just went and tried to rebreed her which she lifted right for the buck. So I'm hoping this time around she has some for me.

The doe is about 8 or 9 months old and the buck is 2 years old
