Hi everyone :) I'm new on here and in desperate need of help. so I have a one year old mini Rex doe who just had her first litter three days ago. She had three babies, I'm now down to two as the smallest one got squished by the normal sized babies.

I bred her and my male mini Rex two times in one day, I thought she would have more than three. Turns out she still has some kits left in her, they're still alive and moving like crazy. Its been four days and she still hasn't given birth to the rest of them :( she won't eat the lavander I give her, I did give her raspberry tea which she loved, but nothing! She was actually building another nest yesterday morning and I thought she needed help because she was making so much noise sliding the igloo from place to place, so I placed a towel under it because I know she was expecting the towel to be under it which was why she kept moving it so much. I think I may have interrupted her? Today she didn't even bother to make a nest, she's been eating and drinking and acting normal but they're still alive!

Sorry this is so long, Has this happened to anyone before? I'm desperate for advice! :bunnyhop: :bunnyhop:

I've never encountered this, so I'm not sure if I can help, but there are a couple of things you can try.

A calcium boost sometimes helps and you could give her one or two fruit-flavoured TUMS. Most rabbits like the taste and it is an easy way to give them calcium.

The other thing you could try would be to disguise the strong taste of the lavender buds with something--corn syrup or molasses, not too much. Or perhaps infuse it in hot raspberry tea and let it steep while it cools.

On what day of pregnancy did she kindle? It would be good to know if the first three went full term or came early.

BTW . . . Welcome to RabbitTalk! :hi:

Thank you for replying! I will try it out tomorrow morning if she hasn't had them yet. And she kindled on August 27 early in the morning I believe, and thank you so much! :pancake:

You can try puting her with a buck, mating causes contractions.

Hi pnwbunnies!

:hi: to RabbitTalk!

You might try giving her Parsley, Ginger, Yarrow, Feverfew, Rosemary and/or Sage. All of these are mild emmenagogues that will cause uterine contractions. For a comprehensive list see: post162197.html#p162197

Another helpful link for dealing with retained kits is: http://www.thenaturetrail.com/rabbit-br ... kits-help/

I hope she has the rest of her litter with no issues. Good luck! :clover:
