My kids and I exhibited at our first show at the Iowa RBA last month, and since we're pretty new and don't have much stock, we brought all of our rabbits to show and will do the same next month. I didn't think about cleanliness much early on in the show with our mini rexes, but towards the end when our Silver Foxes went up, and then went up again for best 6 class, I was cringing having the kids put the buns up on the table with pee soaked saw dust in every bin. Would wet wipes on their feet and lower body be helpful to disinfect them when they get off the show table before they start cleaning themselves? Or is it all just a waste of time trying to keep them germ free in those situations.

I would do it anyway, but it's hard so many germs are airborne, and they judge is not wiping his hands after every bunny, so still many germs are being transferred to your buns. My show buns are all in quarantine in the back yard and will be there for a while.

We won't have to worry about quarantine until next year since every bun goes to shows. When that happens though, I have no idea where I'm going to put them since we don't have another building to work with and I'm not leaving them outside.

It is very complicated. And since my herd sire is my show buck, I am left wondering what to do as well. The good thing is I have many places to put them, but it's going to make things harder in the winter time.

Our club cleans up urine right away!! The judges also are constantly disinfecting their hands with those disinfectant wipes!! This is an issue you need to take up with the host club of each show! I have seen exhibitors disinfect the hole before putting their own rabbit in. If everyone did that there would be less worry. One just needs to be proactive at these shows and clean up any urine/poop their rabbit does on the table.

How do you disinfect every hole in the booth when you go up there. If you disinfect your hole when you put the bunny there, that's no guarantee the judge will put him back in the same hole. Also if he wins the first wave he'll be put into the cages behind the judge you won't be able to disinfect either. I think I'm just going to have to try to get lucky this month and have no major whammies before our first litters come in.
