My scanner wasn't working, so I had to go ahead and take a picture of the floor-plan with my camera.
Before building the ramps and the bucks cages, I would like to receive an approval from the colony-experts. Would this particular layout work?
The rabbits will be housed on my 9.8 ft x 11.6 ft balcony. Everything but 6 inches, near the railing, is covered by a roof... Meaning only the 9.8 ft x 6 inches of space gets rained and snowed on. The flooring is cement, therefore burrowing underground isn't an option for the does. The bucks cages and the nest boxes are raised off the ground. There are plenty of safe, edible plants available in the warmer seasons, plus junipers are available year-round to provide protection from wind.
I am picking up four does and two bucks this Saturday. The bucks will be kept in 3.5 x 2 ft cages. The balcony floorspace allows 28.42 sqft per doe.
I will only be breeding two does at a time, but have 3 nest boxes just in case. Are the nest boxes too close together?
Does anyone have pictures of their setup, that I can get some inspiration off of?
Is there anything you would change/add/remove to my layout?
I apologize if you're unable to read my writing.
P.S. The weaned kits are separated by gender, into pens in the room next to the balcony, until their sold.
