I was reading about the underground cooling options and one mentioned a clay pot....I thought, so why not use those square chimney liner sections in the cage....I think I'll try that and let you know how it goes....I've been looking for rabbit friendly tunnel materials. Mine love the concrete form tubes (8" and 10" from Lowes) but I'm told that the glue they use on cardboard isn't bun-safe. Stella loves peeling strips from the inside, so slowly, the tube gets thinner and thinner.

Good idea, but wont the weight of them cause a lot of stress to the cage wire? Do you have a structure above the cages that you could suspend them from with wire or chain?

I wonder if one soaked the clay chimney liner and then let it drip off well before giving it to the rabbits, if it would prolong the cooling effect. It might not work in humid climates, but in dry areas it might be worth a try.

hum.....if I put a 2x4 across the cage and suspended it from that, that could spread the weight, and make the tunnel swing......I LIKE it...but will the buns? Hum......gotta experiment!

I hang plant pots from the tops of my cages for the rabbits to rest in- if you put them against one side they wont swing.

It isn't a clay pot, but in my baby's runout cage, I set concrete pavers into the soil in the corners and the buns have spent most of the past few days lounging on them for the coolness they transmitt from the wet soil below. Same principle, though :D
