So with all the brouhaha today, and my two pairs of growouts going to war, meaning 4 instead of two cages... my doe with the 6 week olds decides she is through mothering.
She did this last litter, too, at about the same point~ she started chasing and humping the kits.
So. Cage crisis.
The death of doe today cleared another hole, but even so.

So I put the 7 @6 weekers outside in the pen, and put my new 10 week old Standard Rex doe in with them.
They seemed to do fine, the babies didn't even notice she wasn't one of them (they are bigger being mostly Flemish) and she warmed up.
In the same pen she is eating, drinking and mingling.
Looks good to me (I will take a few kits to mom tomorrow in mom's cage to see if she needs to nurse at all).
But with everything today, I feel the need to ask if there is any reason they can't mix (other than possible health risk from new bunny, I suppose)?
Am I missing something?
Or if all are playing well, let it go?

They should be fine. Doelings are generally easier to keep with other rabbits than bucklings are.

Just be prepared to butcher the whole lot if they all start sneezing.

That might sound jumpy of me, but it has happened to more than one of us.

Yes, I am mindful of that possibility :)
I figured she can't get anybody pregnant and the bucklings are too young to bother her. LOL
With the stress going on in there today and the temp changes we have had, anyone could start sneezing and I wouldn't be surprised.
