Hello everybunny. I'm still searching for another doe for my starter colony, and came across interesting add on lops. Finding a non-chestnut rabbit in general is hard, and the lop seems almost impossible. However, I found this one and have a big problem; I can't determain the colour of the bunny on the last photo (http://www.njuskalo.hr/glodavci/ovnoliki-kunic-oglas-12279370). Could it be some sort of tort? If it carries two recessive e, I will contact a breeder and see is the bun is still avaliable. Also, could that left bun on the first photo be tort as well? Thanks for your help in advance and have nice rest of the day.

P.S. Has anyone ever heard of Madagascar colour? If so, is it true it's in fact black tort + wideband (aa B_ C_ D_ ee ww)?

Those are some big lops! I guess I was expecting hollands for some reason

I saw:

Agouti A_B_C_D_E_
Red A_B_C_D_ee
Opal A_B_C_ddE_

The opal is the bluish looking one.

They all appear to carry the agouti (chestnut) gene. You won't get a tort out of any of them unless they are carrying "a" in the blank spot on the first allele.

But I could be wrong. Someone else chime in if you see something in error.

Thank you. It's not that I'm trying to get torts, I'm just trying to avoid chesnuts. I have a fawn doe and NZR buck, so I'm looking for any combination that has no E gene.

I also see a tort - aa B_ C_ D_ ee in the first pic with 2 chestnut/black agouti and a fawn/red

I've never heard of the term "Madagascar" to describe a tort but it could be a European thing.
