Hi there, here is a buck that I fell in love with and bought last weekend, I'm thinking he might be a broken chocolate torte, but as i'm still very much a beginner at this I'm wondering if anyone could help out with his colour ID.

Here are my other rabbits.

I haven't worked out how the galleries work on here yet, but I have created a flickr account for photos of my rabbits which I can link to the forum from. If there are any rabbits on there that you think I have got the colour's wrong, please do help out and suggest otherwise

Thanks in advance :)

Unfortunately there isn't much colour on him to tell from pictures. The section along his spine looks like chestnut to me. If you part the fur there and there seems to be several bands of light and darker colour on the hair he is chestnut.

If the fur is the same colour from the base to the tip then I'd say black or chocolate tort. Often chocolate rabbits have a lighter brown eye colour instead of dark black brown.

I was leaning towards chestnut but there just isn't enough color to tell from a pic.

Why does your album say the US name is netherland dwarf? Are they crosses? Those most definitely do not qualify as ND here. The ears by themselves make it a lop breed. Mini lops here are also not even considered a dwarf breed.

Hi there Akane, that is me confusing things yet again. I am aware that Mini Lops here in the UK are a different breed to the USA's Mini lop and I have gone and put the wrong name in :( I believe I was meant to say Holland Lop? I've taken the USA name out just now to save confusion. Thank you for pointing that out.

Thank you both for the guidance of of hair colour Dood i'll do that later when I'm in and about their pens and see what his fur colours. Once again thanks for the sound advice :)

Welcome to RT! :D

Yep, you have what we consider Holland Lops :) that are certainly chocolate based. You have a chotolate otter, chocolate tort, and this broken looks to be a chocolate chestnut, but unfortunately, the lack of color makes it a little difficult. You may need to wait for a more mature senior coat to know for sure.

Thanks for your welcome, and taking a look through my rabbit gallery helping me out with the colours :)
