Hey guys, I just wanted to share this with you. I bred CoCo on June 10th, and thought it was not a successful breeding. Spice covered her and fell off twice, but, he did not scream, so, I thought it didn't take. Well, 27 days came, nothing. 30 days came, nothing. 32 days came, nothing. Well, today is day 34, and when I went out there to water and feed them their hay and BOSS, I see 8 little kits laying on the floor of the cage!!! It looked like she just gave birth to the smallest one because he was still wet with blood and his cord was still attached. I AM SHOCKED!! :-o :-o :-o I feel soooo bad because I did not prepare a nest box for her or anything. :( They are all ALIVE, but, I am concerned about the last one that came out, because he is not a squirmy and active as all the others. I don't think that he's gonna make it, but, I'm gonna keep checking and keeping my fingers crossed. I quickly put together a box, and placed the kits in there covered with some cotton balls. Another thing is this, she didn't pull hair or stop eating or anything. I did see a clump of hair in the poop tray, but, it wasn't a lot. I am confused.

Wow 41 day?! :p Is that an RT record???

:congratulations:

Sometimes it takes a while for a does hormones to kick in and get her to build her nest and such. Especially first time moms.

The act of pulling belly fur actually triggers mothering instincts and hormones so I would flip her and start plucking and place the hair with the kits. Not too much to at once. This will also help her milk to come in.

Hopefully she gets a clue and looks after the little ones.

I have a rabbit...screams every time he is successful...I don't even have to watch I know when he is done. its nice. most of my bucks might grunts but he is the only one that yells to tell me he did it. Then I have one buck that is completely silent. If I am not watching I won't have a clue.He is like a ninja o.o Just hopping around in the pen he is in makes noise...but with a doe not a sound at all at any point in the whole thing. He even falls off in perfect silence o.o I can't even count on my silly bucks toppling off as a sign since I had one that just kinda collapsed on the doe when he was done. she shook him off after a min cause he fell asleep. He was a really lazy buck though :p

Well thats how many days it FEELS like when we're waiting for babies, perfectly understandable! :)
